House Boat — Copenhagen

On the dock of Refshaleøen (Reffen), just outside central Copenhagen, floats a houseboat designed by the Danish Mast Architects. Surrounded by vibrant food trucks and innovative container boats, this striking home, featured in Swedish “Grand Designs Sverige”, boasts a sleek and minimalist exterior. Step inside, however, and you are welcomed by a warm and inviting atmosphere where natural materials and stunning art take center stage. At its heart lies a stylish interior grounded by light ash plank flooring from Chevron, seamlessly blending modern elegance with timeless design.

The light ash plank flooring creates a beautiful harmony with the untreated pine paneling on the walls and ceiling.

The plank flooring has been chosen without bevels, creating a smooth surface where the planks fit seamlessly edge to edge without visible grooves or gaps. This design lends the space a clean and seamless aesthetic. The calm, knot-free grain provides a striking contrast to the vibrant pine paneling.

The owner of the boat is a Scandinavian fashion icon who, over many years in the fashion and design industry, has curated an inspiring collection of art and designer furniture.
