In southern Sweden, in the picturesque and culinary region of Österlen, we find one of Scandinavia’s most renowned restaurants. Michelin-starred chef Daniel Berlin, previously awarded two stars in the prestigious Guide Michelin for his restaurant Daniel Berlin Krog, opened VYN Restaurant in the fall.
Located in a historic barn perched on a hill with breathtaking views of the Baltic Sea, the restaurant, along with its boutique hotel and wine bar, has been crafted to absolute world-class standards. Here, all senses are awakened in a unique atmosphere shaped by warm and beautiful architecture. To complement this stunning setting, CHEVRON has supplied exquisite plank flooring for both the restaurant and hotel, reflecting the architecture and the kitchen’s precision and attention to detail.
Interior architect Lisa Mannheimer from Fojab Arkitekter explains that her vision was to create a cohesive experience and bring Daniel’s dream to life—a place designed for a holistic experience, where the restaurant and its cuisine take center stage, with the interior playing a vital role in the overall impression. She further describes the guiding principles of the project as Scandinavian, Nordic, and local, with a touch of international elegance, personality, craftsmanship, art, and natural materials.

Lisa, together with Daniel, chose long and wide plank floors with butterfly joints, treated with our 201 Ljunghusen color, a beautiful natural hardwax oil. Lisa Mannheimer explains that the wooden floor was one of the most crucial material choices in defining the style and achieving the desired atmosphere—robust yet exclusive, warm, and soft. She also highlights the acoustic benefits of the wooden floor, as it provides a pleasant, natural, and subdued sound experience.
